Behind SPOPOS
SPOPOS is being developed in a partnership between a number of different companies and researchers. All the partners involved in the project are members of a so-called Innovation Consortium, which is given financial support by the Danish Research and Innovation Agency under the Danish Ministry for Science, Technology and Innovation.
The project partners
The IT University of Copenhagen
The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) has approx. 1500 students and 180 employees, of which 2/3 are researchers and and lecturers. Through research and education, the aim of the ITU is to contribute to make Denmark one of the world-leading countries within value creation by the use of IT. The ITU's primary contribution to the SPOPOS project is to develop methods and tools for the processing of tracking data. Furthermore, the ITU is responsible for the interaction design for mobile and location-based passenger and operator services.
Risø National Laboratory
Risø is a national laboratory at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Risø carries out natural and technical scientific research aimed at providing Danish society with new technological development opportunities. The most important contributions made by Risø to the SPOPOS project are the design and testing of web services, the collection and processing of qualitative user data and the evaluation of operator interfaces.
Ørsted DTU (Technical University of Denmark)
Ørsted•DTU’s priority areas are biomedical engineering, physical electronics, antennas, robotics, electric technology, power electronics, acoustic environment, audiology and electro acoustics. An important part of Ørsted•DTU's research is carried out in close cooperation with industry and international research institutions.
The Alexandra Institute
The Alexandra Institute is a research-based limited company that bridges the gap between the IT corporate sector, research and education. The Alexandra Institute represents the direct collaboration between research environments and the corporate sector. The services provided by the Institute are called “research-based knowledge services”. The Alexandra Institute is to communicate the ideas and current results of the SPOPOS project to the public.
CPH Airports
CPH Airports is a listed company that owns and runs Copenhagen Airport (CPH) and Roskilde Airport. CPH Airports wants passengers to have an easy, flexible start to their journey. Together with the companies operating in the airport, new initiatives are regularly being implemented to reduce the time passengers wait in connection with check-in, security control, passport control, etc. CPH Airports’ contribution to the SPOPOS project is related to its understanding and analysis of passenger behaviour and attitudes. The company is also placing facilities at the project’s disposal, carrying out the physical installation of components and providing IT access to those with prior authorisation.
Lyngsoe Systems
Lyngsoe Systems is an international IT company which is based in Northern Jutland. Lyngsoe Systems have years of experience in designing quality solutions for track-and-trace systems and the company has achieved profound knowledge within this field and an excellent network as regards airports. Lyngsoe Systems will contribute to the SPOPOS project with knowledge about RFID technology, their solid airport knowledge and their Catellae system platform around which the track-and-trace system is being built.
BLIP Systems
BLIP Systems is a privately owned company based in Aalborg, Denmark, which works with wireless technology. BLIP Systems’ input in the SPOPOS project involves research assistance in developing and testing indoor positioning, contributing with our knowledge of Bluetooth technology and the practical aspects concerning the use of location-based services, amongst other things.
